Texas Stampede XIV

Texas Stampede XIV

Camp Trevor Rees-Jones / Clements Scout Ranch
Athens, TX
Sat., Dec. 11, 2021

Join us at Clements Scout Ranch in Athens for challenging orienteering in the oak and pine woods of East Texas – home to Boy Scouts, lots of deer, 30-50 feral hogs and the occasional (tiny) gator. We will not be offering an Ultra-long course this year, but will have the usual slate of courses otherwise.

COVID 19 Protocols

We’re carefully watching the continuing pandemic and want to keep both participants and volunteers safe. We’ve developed event protocols based on guidelines from our sport’s national organizing body, Orienteering USA. NTOA reserves the right to revise them based on changing conditions.

  1. Pre-registration is required. This will minimize the number of people and amount of time needed at Registration. (Note: We will be able to make changes to pre-registered entries.)
  2. Wearing a mask is encouraged when doing business at Registration. Please have only one person from your group at Registration. Masks are otherwise encouraged before and after your course if you’re dealing closely with others.
  3. Social distancing is encouraged (except within your own group) at all times.

Fortunately, as an outdoor sport, orienteering typically finds us alone in the woods. We think it’s possible to have fun and mitigate risks. Please help us do that.

Important: BSA COVID protocols

Circle Ten Council BSA requires that everyone entering the camp complete the following actions BEFORE arriving at Clements Scout Ranch:

— Adult individuals must complete the C10 Pre-Event Screening Checklist/At-Risk Participation Statement and bring it to the event.

— Group Leaders must complete and bring the C10 Arrival Checklist (which requires a list of everyone in their group)

— Everyone should take their temperature before departing for camp and anyone with a fever should NOT attend the event.

Individuals (1 person navigating on their own):
Only individuals can officially compete (awards for top 3 in each class) at NTOA events. But even if you’re doing it on your own just for recreation, please sign up as a (competitive) individual. Members and youth (aka, Juniors, age 19 and under) pay reduced event fees. There’s a $3 surcharge for adult day-of-race entries. So join NTOA and pre-register! Fee covers 1 map.

Competitor type Cost
Juniors (age 19 and under) $10
Adults $15
E-punch rental (ALL courses) $3

Recreational Teams (2 or more people navigating together):

Orienteering is a great activity to do with family and friends! Teams aren’t eligible for awards, just the fun. Base fee covers the first 2 team members and 2 maps. Add people for $5 each. Kids under age 8 are free (after first 2 team members paid).

Team type Cost
All teams (first 2 people) $17
Extra person (over age 7) – includes map $5/person
E-punch rental (ALL courses) $3

Online registration before the event is required this season to minimize the number of people at the Registration table (because Covid.) We use the registration numbers to determine how many pre-printed maps to produce for each event. If you do not pre-register, you will not have a map. Online registration is FREE, so please take a moment to do it. Thanks!
