More Details

  • 6-hour time limit for 14.3 km (measured on the straight line; about 20km of running) and about 40 controls.
  • NTOA would prefer teams of two or three participants. Those interested in running solo should contact course setter   for approval. There must be at least one person 19 or older on each team.
  • Cost is $20/person
  • High-quality orienteering map produced in 2007 for the U.S. Interscholastic Orienteering Championships.
  • Mix of pine and deciduous forest. Rolling hills. Most areas are open and fast with some areas thick with green briar (i.e., do not wear shorts). Control placement is generally straightforward and not too technical; the main challenges are route choice, endurance and speed. Top-level orienteers have run sub 7 minutes/km in this terrain.
  • Electronic punching. Pick up the e-sticks at registration.
  • Must preregister by the Thursday, before the race event. (see link below)
  • Awards are limited and there is no swag: There will be medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall teams only (no-age group or mixed-team awards).
If you need more details, contact course setter   directly.
