This map is part of the historic cross-timbers area, which was used for navigation
by early settlers. It is mixed woods, semi-open with post oaks, cedars, and some
green briar. Green areas are well mapped. There is a moderate trail system with a
few unpaved roads, suspensions bridges over the inlets of the reservoir, and spectacular
cliffs and gullies: all of this next to North Texas' best lake. Original fieldwork for
the 1:10000, 3-meter contour, 5-color map was completed in the spring of 1988 by Andi
Heuberger and Delbert Hirst. The map was field-checked and revised by Tatyana Svistun in 2005.
